Did you know Judaism has four New Years?

While Rosh Hashanah and Tu Bishvat are widely known, few people realize that the Jewish calendar also includes Rosh Hashanah LaBehemah, the New Year for Animals, observed on the first day of the Hebrew month of Elul.

This largely forgotten holiday once marked the tithing year for animals in ancient Israel. Today, it offers a powerful opportunity to reflect on compassion, responsibility, and our relationship with the creatures who share our world.

As we begin the month of Elul and prepare for the High Holidays, we invite you to join us for a unique and inspiring community seder that revives this ancient tradition with renewed purpose, hosted in partnership with Jewish Vegan Life, Humane Action Pennsylvania, and Beit Kulanu.
