Community Coordinator

Position: Community Coordinator
Location: Remote with preference for candidates based in New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, or Miami. Outside these cities? Apply for our Fellowship below.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate proactive Community Coordinator to support our leadership team. Position will assist with event management, outreach, social media campaigns, and resource development. This role is part-time with potential for expansion based on organizational needs and performance.

 

Key Position Responsibilities

 

Event Coordination

  • Work with lay leaders to mobilize volunteers and plan local and virtual events.
  • Curate and update a calendar of speaking opportunities and events.
  • Represent JVL at various events and institutional speaking engagements to raise awareness and support for our mission.

 

Outreach and Partnerships 

  • Assist in donor cultivation relationships with donors and manage outreach strategies for donor engagement.
  • Help build partnerships with Jewish institutions and community organizations to advance our mission.
  • Draft thank you letter for donors and help identify and write grant proposals to secure funding for JVL initiatives.

 

Content Creation and Management

  • Aid in the composing of JVL resources, such as holiday guides and downloadable recipe menus
  • Update JVL website, ensuring content is current, on mission and engaging
  • Draft design and content for our monthly email newsletter 

 

Social Media & PR

  • Help manage JVL’s social media channels, create actionable content and foster strong community engagement.
  • Help write and secure article placement in relevant media outlets to promote our mission.
  • Create bite-sized and long form video content for social media to amplify our message and engage our audience.

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Knowledge of Jewish practices and traditions.
  • Passion for veganism and sustainable living.
  • Prior experience managing events, campaigns, and helping to cultivate donors.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and due dates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in graphic design using Canva.
  • Proficiency in social media management and engagement strategies.
  • Resource development experience, including grant writing.
  • Video editing skills for creating engaging content.
  • Public speaking experience, particularly in community and institutional settings.
  • Background in public relations.
  • Website management skills.
  • Strong ability to learn new systems and agility with technology.

 

Compensation

  • 15-20 hours per week, commensurate with experience.
  • Flexible work model, role has the potential to grow into a full-time position.
