Roey Katz serves as Chair of the Board of Jewish Vegan Life. He is Director of Herut Maryland, a community of Magshimey Herut Worldwide dedicated to Zionist education and Israel advocacy. Professionally, he has spent more than two decades in information technology with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity. He is also pursuing a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Roey’s vegan journey began as a young teenager after his family adopted a dog. Caring for her connected his love of animals with a growing awareness of how his food choices affected other animals, leading him to adopt a vegan lifestyle. Around 2019, he discovered Jewish vegan ethics and found that they deeply resonated with his understanding of Judaism, bringing together values he had long held with his Jewish identity. He is honored to help advance Jewish Vegan Life’s mission of promoting compassion, justice, and responsible stewardship through a Jewish lens.
