Richard is one of the most important figures in the history of the Jewish vegan movement. He was one of the earliest leaders of Jewish Vegetarians of North America, which later became Jewish Veg where is served as President. He is now on the Executive Council of Jewish Vegan Life. He is also know for the most authoritative book on the subject of Judaism and veganism, Judaism and Vegetarianism.

A retired college-level mathematics teacher, he also wrote the book Mathematics and Global Survival and the more recent Vegan Revolution. Richard also co-produced the documentary “A Sacred Duty,” the only full-length documentary ever made about Judaism and veganism.

Today, Richard lives in a suburb of Jerusalem, where he remains active in promoting veganism in the Israeli and international Jewish communities. He often writes in The Jerusalem Post and maintains a collection of his many articles on his website.
